Levitt Shell, I love you. The summer concerts there are something I look forward to so very much. For one thing, they're free. You just spread out your picnic blanket, enjoy the music, and watch the sun set and the stage lights get brighter. I love love the sense of community that it brings and I love that it's a Memphis tradition. I love that it's outdoors. I love that you'll see everyone from older married couples, to young families with their kids jumping and dancing to the music down front, to groups of college kids, to one of your nursing school professors (haha). It was sort of a mini celebration for the quickly approaching end of my Maternal/Newborn rotation. Up next is six weeks of Pediatrics, then Capstone and graduation! The weather was perfect, and the band was so, so good. It was my first concert there of the season and we saw The Stone Foxes. It did my heart some good. That iced coffee is from Muddy's in midtown, and it blessed my heart and soul. Iced coffee is a love language, yes?
Even though I'm in school throughout the summer (a crime), I don't want to waste it. This summer is ushering in some changes: one of my closest friends will move away soon, I've got friends planning weddings, it's my last summer as a college student, this month I turn 23, and I've got a new job as a nurse intern on an Oncology unit! (so excited) I'm welcoming the changes and rolling with all the newness that is coming my way. I'm ready for it. I'm working on finding ways to try new things and seek out little joys. Balancing nursing school with fun is sometimes easier said than done. But it is a big priority for me now. Summer is so sweet, and I want to make the most of these long, hot days.
